Leonore Anne Tobin, born in Philadelphia in 1950, died on April 20, 2006 after an extended illness. Leonore has been a great joy to her family and those around her. She had a loving personality and was a famous teaser.

Barb's memorial memories at Lee's funeral service.

For those of you who don't know, I am Barbara Cardin, Leonore’s younger sister by 13 months.  We were best buddies for the first years of our lives.

Some of my fondest memories are of humorous pranks we played with and on each other -- and of laughing a lot. For example, at one point, we shared a bunk bed; Leonore on the bottom bed and myself on the top bed. I can remember us teasing each other at night. She would kick the top mattress with me on it; I would reach over and try to do things to her from the top.  I have many wonderful memories of us playing together and simply being best buddies together.  I remember us taking turns brushing each other's hair, scratching each others back, and tickling each others feet. We were and will always be a part of each other.

She had a beautiful voice and loved music. She loved anything to do with angles and had quite a collection of them; both seen and unseen. She loved the TV show "Touched by an Angel". In our later years, we often prayed together and for each other. It made us closer as sisters and will always be a lasting treasure for me.

Even though she faced many illnesses in her lifetime, her uncomplicated & sincere faith was a testimony to God's amazing and saving grace …. A simple message that Leonore understood and took to her heart.

For she knew that the Jesus loved her and that His angels watched over her. This knowledge filled her with hope and grace. She had a gift of grace, of hearing others with her heart, without judging but with a sweet and sincere love.

She believed that when she died, she would go to heaven to be with Jesus. She fully expected that Jesus and a host of angels would greet her at that time. So she lived with this hope and sincere faith that He who promised is faithful and true to keep His promise.

And I know He has kept His promise to her. I know she is in heaven with loved ones that have gone before her, and with a host of those angels she loved singing in the heavenly choir. I know that she is free from pain and the limitations she faced here on earth. I know that she lives with Jesus.

I will always carry with me her enormous courage, her sweet love and her joy and love for life and family.  She is a testament to God's wonderful love & has filled my life with Grace and Sisterly love. I am so glad she was and still is my older sister...even now when she is at home with the Lord.
